Money Games for Kids

Kids learn best by doing and actively participating. Because of this, we’ve compiled a list of money games for kids. The following games can be adapted to large or small groups. You may use these in a family setting or school setting. Kids love to play games and what better way to teach them about money? Enjoy the kid-friendly games. GAME 1: THE PRICE IS RIGHT

Gather several items (at least six). These should be everyday items that are found around the house. You will need to know the cost for these items. Write the cost on a card and place it in front of the item. Allow the kids to guess how much the items cost and have them write their guesses on a piece of paper. When they have guessed the cost of all the items, turn the cards over and see how they did.

Download the worksheet found here. The object of this game is for kids to guess how much the things in their room cost. It is similar to the price is right game above, but serves a duo purpose, allowing kids to create an inventory of what they own.

How much money will you have in 10 years if you save just a quarter a day? What about a penny? A nickel? A dime? Here is the formula to figure it out. Allow kids to use a calculator, it makes this game more fun.
